Why replace your rubber lines with Braided Steel Teflon lines?
- Standard lines over 3 years old have started to deteriorate from exposure to the elements and the corrosive properties of brake fluid. Replacement is recommended for all bikes over 3 years old.
- Rubber lines expand, Braided Steel lines do not. Braided Steel lines will therefore eliminate any sponge-iness caused by this expansion giving better feel to your braking.
- Rubber lines will expand all the more with heat, so for summer riders and warm climates, Braided Steel is a must to prevent brake fade.
- Tests have shown stopping distances can be up to 20% better.
- All racers use them.
- Isnt that enough reasons?!

Most bikes have a standard set up as per Option D or E (Yamaha being the main exception on some models). However it is proven that a 2 line set up (Option A), utilising a double banjo bolt at the master cylinder to accommodate the 2 banjos, is equally, if not more effective. How come? The fluid has a direct route to the callipers; it doesnt reach one side first (as Option E) or have any bends to negotiate. Whilst this difference is minimal, we can confirm that the ACU, who regulates race bikes, insist on all racers having the 2 full length line set up. Says it all really!
The benefit of option A over option C or D is a cost saving of 33% (2 lines as opposed to 3)
The benefit of option A over option E is that they are easier to bleed as air bubbles prefer to travel upwards (rather than up, over and down the other side of the mudguard!)
Note: You may consider ordering an alloy hose separator (part no:167-3D@£5.82) to hold the 2 hoses in place above the mudguard, or rubber lined p-clips (part no:171-3 from 76p)
How do I find the right kit for my bike?
